A Bummer Sticker To Live By

I don't often see bumper stickers I like. I'm just not that into making political, educational, or "my honors student is smarter..." statements. Especially when they come in the form of a dollar sticker on a thousands of dollar vehicle. It's like buying a Vera Wang wedding dress and Sharpie-ing "Save The Whales" across the mid-section. Not going to do it.

I think it's humorous when people buy cheap vehicles and cover the car with stickers. Like we don't see their inferiority complex oozing out in those bummer stickers, "Don't laugh it's paid for" and "My other car is a (fill in the blank). I say if you drive a crappy car (I did throughout high school plus) wear it proud with stickers like, "The money I save on not having a car payment I blow on beef jerky and hats", "My insurance cost pennies, who needs collision coverage? Liability all the way baby!", etc.

Anyway, like I was saying I don't usually like bummer stickers. I think they are total stupid and unnecessary, unless I am stuck in a long line of traffic, and then they are a nice distraction....

Yesterday I was stuck in a long line of traffic and got distracted by a black and white sticker. Nothing fancy, but the slogan made me think. After a minute I was like "That's so true". And then I thought, "that's got to be my new motto".

Later on that night, I told Randy about the sticker and told him that maybe just maybe it's the reason I do things different. He said that I do things different because I am not paying attention (probably true).

So what did the bumper sticker say? "Well-behaved women rarely make history".

AMEN. Here's to all the unruly women out there who are blazing their own trail. May your trail end with a lot of great stories, and not burning at the stake or decapitation.

I LOVE that one! We don't do bumper stickers either for much the same reasons as you...loved the Vera Wang analogy...but that quote is one of my FAVES! It's a famous quote, but I forget who said it. Too true..LOL
